Three days in Saigon

We will be in Saigon three more days and then board a plane at 6:00 a.m. (Could it be any earlier!!!)Saturday. We hope to be home Saturday evening.

We visited three countries and they were very different. They all had good and bad things about them.
I loved the people, food and beach in Thailand

*to clarify, I loved the beach when we got indoor plumbing

I learned a great deal about recent and old history in Cambodia. It was also beautiful.

In Vietnam we were so lucky to meet up with our friend Tran. He gave us a rare look at the culture, scenery and food of the country. We were invited to dine in the home of his wife's family and last night we were invited to the home of a friend of his. We know we would have experienced 1/10 of what we actually did if he hadn't taken us around.

FAVORITE THINGS:

*The beach in Thailand and Vietnam.(See above for clarification)
*Cooking school(see not so good list)
*Squat Toilets(NOT!!!)
*Phil, the chief who explained food and my camera to me.(We traveled with him in Cambodia)
*coconut pancakes(yum!!)
*being with Tran in Vietnam!!!!!

NOT SO GOOD LIST:

*getting sick after eating my own cooking at cooking school.(There's a lesson here)
*slipping and ending up with my elbow in a squat toilet. (I can't even look at my elbow anymore)
*no TP anywhere. Where's the Charmain??? I want my TP!!!!!(Of course the one time I got it I mooned a restaurant full of people)

I will be posting the last of my pictures Friday as we are touring another textile mill Thursday.

Dung Tau

This is a resort town that we came to on the hydrofoil with Tran. We met up with two of his friends from the US and hit the beach for the afternoon.
That evening his friends mother had us to her house for dinner. The squid and prawns were great and the finishing touch was rice oyster soup. We had great fun sitting around the table and visiting. Today, back to Bangkok. If I can hit a internet cafe I will have a bunch of photos to download.

Exhibition

I've really been proud of myself. I haven't really embarrased myself
this trip once.
The last trip I wished a Jewish gentleman and Merry Christmas. I
bared my bra at the falls and it is on video tape somewhere in
Argentina(refer to the Argentina blog)

Well last night was the night. The good new is it didn't get put on
video. We were in a restaurant that, for once, didn't have squat
toilets. I got in the stall facing the toilet and started getting
ready. I realized there was no toilet paper so with my pants down and
my back ofacing the stall door, I bent over to retrieve some from a
plastic wrapper on the floor. It took some time to retrieve it but I
finally got it. The door to the stall was a wooden one with slats on
it. It happened to be facing the restaurant. One of the slats was
missing. When I sat down to finish my task I realized I had been
mooning the restaurant while I was retrieving the paper. I had a
clear view of some shocked and amused faces. There were no video
cameras present. Thank heavens!!!

Last sunset

This is our last sunset on our relaxing beach adventure on Phu Quoc
island. Back to the city for more adventures with Tran

Coffee time

After the market we stopped by the local doughnut shop for coffee.
Wait their boat came to us.
